Evan Joseph is a Brooklyn based music composer and sound designer. His work includes music for film, TV, dance and theater as well as post-production sound for film and TV.


Bio

 

Born in Brooklyn and raised in central Florida, Evan Joseph has always had a passion for music and sound. He began playing keyboard at a young age and soon added clarinet and saxophone to his musical repertoire. Inspired by film and video game music, Joseph began crafting his own compositions while still in middle school. He continued to play music in high school where he excelled in the concert, marching, jazz, and percussion ensembles while also taking formal classical piano lessons from Juilliard graduate, Anne Williams.

Joseph earned his Bachelor of Music in music composition and electronic music from the University of South Florida in Tampa Bay. There, he studied with Paul Reller, Dr.Michael Timpson, and Baljinder Sehkon, all graduates of the prestigious Eastman School of Music. While at USF Evan Joseph was awarded the Patrick Keim Memorial Scholarship for music composition and the Director's Prize for best student composition at the 2010 Robert Helps Festival and Competition. He was also elected Vice President of the New-Music Consortium, a driving force for new-music productions at USF and throughout the local community.

Since 2011 Evan Joseph has been working as a music composer and sound designer, collaborating with many talented filmmakers, dance companies and musical artists. Joseph has provided music and sound design for numerous award winning films. He is the musical director/composer-in-residence for MJM Dance, the co-director of the Quiet City Film Festival and is also a freelance sound engineer for WNET Thirteen, PBS’s flagship station and the most-watched public TV channel in the nation. Joseph currently resides in New York City where he continues his work as a composer, sound designer and musical director.
